    Thank you for your question regarding the Bardin Road extension between Park Springs Boulevard and Kelly‑Elliott Road.

    From a Comprehensive Plan standpoint, this roadway connection has long been identified in the City’s Thoroughfare Development Plan as an important east‑west link in southwest Arlington. The planned extension reflects the City’s long‑term vision to improve connectivity, distribute traffic more efficiently, and support future mobility needs in this part of the community.

    Much of the right‑of‑way for this segment has already been dedicated over time, which helps position the project for future implementation. However, the actual construction of this extension is expected to be funded through a future bond program. Because bond programs must be approved by voters and compete with other citywide infrastructure priorities, the timing for construction cannot yet be predicted.

    Great question, thank you! Yes, the scope of the Comprehensive Plan includes an element currently titled “Healthy City – the Active Environment.” This element will highlight the need to nurture and sustain our health and environmental resources for long-term livability and endurability. The intention of this focus is to provide policy direction to help accommodate growth and change, while promoting and protecting public health and the environmental systems on which we depend, including the quality of our air, water, and land. Components within this element may include:

    • Environmental Quality – Air, Water, Land, Trees;
    • Energy & Sustainability;
    • Food Systems; and
    • Health and Activity (healthy communities).
