Lived in Arlington TX 40 years!!

This year, 2026, completes 40 years of living in Arlington, TX for our family. Started off in an apartment, then moved to a starter home ( on a HUD funded first time buyer's program! ) We even got $$ for a FREE washer Dryer for attending a HUD sponsored first time buyer seminar in Market Hall. We just moved to a retirement community in Arlington, ( our 4th home in Arlington) and incidentally, STILL have the same washer dryer!! Kids went to Dunn Elementary, Boles, Arlington High, Martin High, UTA, TCU!!

My husband and I always had long commutes to work - but never moved out of here. Arlington is still a place where we can afford our standard of living on our paychecks, I guess!!

Lotsa History

I moved to Arlington when I was 7 years old. It wasn't even on the map at that time, just a "dot" between Dallas & Ft Worth. The only draw at that time was employment at General Motors. I attended school at CB Berry Elementary and had some of the very best teachers - Key, Workman & others. The following summer Six Flags Over Texas opened and my mom purchased discount tickets at Buddies Supermarket for $5 each that was on Abram St (now the sorrowful area of Amber Hagerman's abduction.) My Family Story

When my parents moved to Arlington there was a well on Center Street and Main. When they covered the well you could go next to the old Police Department to get well water. All four of us kids went to school in Arlington and Kooken Elementary is still standing on Center Street. We would ride our bikes to Park Row and that was country. Meadowbrook Park's swimming pool was where my mother, myself and my daughter took swimming lessons. It was a sad day when they decided to cover the swimming pool up.
