My heart belongs to Arlington

I moved into the dorm at UTA fall of 1980 at 17 years old. I graduated December 1985 with my BSN.

Worked at John Peter Smith and Parkland Hospital as an RN.
I played volleyball at Skippy’s Mistake Bar on Division Street. I still have friends from that era in Arlington.
I felt the country calling so I moved to the Texas Hill country for almost 25 years but my heart belonged to Arlington, so I moved back in May 2024. Although I was not raised in Arlington, Arlington feels like Home to me and I love it so much.

My Family Story

When my parents moved to Arlington there was a well on Center Street and Main. When they covered the well you could go next to the old Police Department to get well water. All four of us kids went to school in Arlington and Kooken Elementary is still standing on Center Street. We would ride our bikes to Park Row and that was country. Meadowbrook Park's swimming pool was where my mother, myself and my daughter took swimming lessons. It was a sad day when they decided to cover the swimming pool up. New Beginnings

I moved to Arlington in 1985 from Abilene Texas. I was 22.I came to Arlington because my sister was going to UTA, and I could be close to her.Little did we know that Arlington was, and had everything we ever wanted. The diversity as she always refers to was in everything. Businesses, Restaurants, shopping, sports, and more. We loved drinking cold beer and cheap hot dogs at the old Texas Rangers Stadium.
