Opening Day Applause at Loews Arlington Hotel

One of my favorite Arlington memories happened on February 13, 2024, the opening day of Loews Arlington Hotel and Convention Center. That morning, community leaders, media outlets, and local TV stations gathered to celebrate the ribbon cutting, marking a milestone moment for the City of Arlington and the Entertainment District. Later that afternoon, before the Grand Opening Reception with the Arlington Chamber of Commerce, I was sitting in the Lobby Bar with Alex Tisch, CEO of Loews Hotels & Co. Suddenly, we heard loud applause and cheering erupt from the Lobby. We looked up to see the morning’s ribbon-cutting ceremony being replayed on TVs from the local news throughout the hotel. Watching guests and team members celebrate together in real time was a special moment and powerful reminder of what the hotel means to our city and community. It was a moment of pride, excitement, and accomplishment that I will never forget.

Supporting Arlington Together: The Story of the Arlington Latino Resource Coalition

Arlington's story is a story of people coming together.In 2022, members of Arlington's Latino community came together via a call from the Alzheimer's Association of Tarrant County. Several Latino leaders convened at the Arlington Court House and discussed several topics of support, engagement, and connection. The individuals that gathered there left with a simple but important desire: to continue the conversation and to take action. That desire became the formation of the Arlington Latino Resource Coalition (ALRC), a group created by and for the Latino community with a commitment to advocacy, collaboration, inclusion, and resource sharing.The Coalition was founded on…

Time Well Spent Outside

I enjoy exploring Arlington’s award-winning parks system and green spaces. Whether I’m walking a trail, getting in a round of golf, spending a quiet moment surrounded by nature, or exploring one of our beautiful preserves, these spaces give me a chance to slow down and recharge. With 100+ parks and trails spread across all 99 square miles of Arlington, there’s always an opportunity to step outside, breathe in some fresh air, and enjoy a little peace and quiet.
