We All Have Heroes

I have so many wonderful memories, stories and experiences living in Arlington since the mid 90s. But this one touched our hearts and reminded us of what a great city we live in.

The Arlington Heroes Parade, which honored veterans/military, first responders was so well attended and long overdue. My husband, CW5 David Baker, was asked if he would participate in the parade, but had no idea he would be riding on an armored car. Our daughter, Kitty was skeptical about his safety, being wounded in Vietnam and still experiencing symptoms, so they asked her to accompany him.

Long story short, thank you Arlington for bringing this wonderful event and for giving us one of the best years of our lives.

Biggest Small Town There Is

We've lived in Arlington since 1999 after moving from my wife's hometown of 15,000. There everyone knew everyone. While Arlington is huge in comparison, it's the same feel. You can pretty much go anywhere in Arlington and see someone you know. We work here (General Motors, Arlington ISD) and our son was born here and still lives here. We tell it to everyone who visits. Arlington is the biggest small town there is, which is the reason we'll never leave.

The National Medal of Honor Museum Grand Opening

After working for 19 years in museums between Ft. Worth and Dallas, I landed my dream job at The National Medal of Honor Museum in March 2023, one year after the groundbreaking. Being a part of the journey to bring the building to life was an extraordinary experience... right here in Arlington, my hometown of 30 years! The spectacular Grand Opening was just the beginning of our mission to inspire America and being there with my family was an incredible moment.
